As a leader in community social pediatrics, Fondation du Dr Julien is committed to training professionals, students and community actors in this unique model of practice. It certifies and accompanies teams that wish to implant a community social pediatrics centre in their community, and also supports research on community social pediatrics.
Marcelle and Jean Coutu Chair
This research chair at Université de Montréal is dedicated to understanding the practices and application of the community social pediatrics model in order to measure the effectiveness of interventions on vulnerable children.
Nicolas Steinmetz and Gilles Julien Chair
This research chair, jointly held by McGill University and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, focuses on the challenges faced by vulnerable children, the social factors that impact their well-being, and how to best to ensure protection of their rights and the development of effective social policies.
Fondation du Dr Julien is training and accompanying the next generation of community social pediatrics professionals. In 2015, it trained more than 150 professionals through observational internships, clinical training, organizational meetings and learning forums, in addition to fostering knowledge exchange and networking at two special biennial events: its international symposium and “Summer School”. Through its certification process, the Fondation also accompanies, step by step, new communities mobilizing to implant community social pediatrics services locally.
